No. The sand is a polymer-based formula that holds moisture naturally — it won't dry out or crumble between play sessions. Just close the case and it stays soft and ready for next time. No cracked, unusable chunks two weeks later.
The sand is designed to clump together rather than scatter, so stray grains sweep up in seconds. The case contains most of the play — kids rarely take it past the tray. A quick once-over with a dry cloth or broom is all it takes.
Stick with 3+. The mold pieces are small enough to pose a choking hazard for toddlers under 3. For a mature 3-year-old playing with a parent or grandparent nearby, it's a great fit.
Each set includes 1,500g — about 3.3 lbs of sand. That's enough to fill the tray and build serious structures. If they lose a little over time, standard kinetic sand is widely available and works as a refill.
